My Dots on Dots Blog Hop Day!!!!!!!

Corrie from Quilt Taffy is are Dotty Host!! Thanks to Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt she has inspired us once again to get our creative juices flowing!! I wanted to use Halloween colored fabrics to get me in the Fall spirit!! These were the fabrics I had on hand to use.

I decided to try my hand at a pieced sunflower. I definitely need to work on my circles. I kept having two spots bunch a little.  My sunflower looked a bit scrunched after trying to fix it so I had to go back and iron it.
I used the same fabric for my center as my border. I decided I liked the black dot background better than the white. The orange fabric seemed to pop better on the black.

I machine appliqued it with a zig zag stitch. It was my first time trying this technique.
I hung it on my black fridge to get a good photo. Those are fridge magnets holding it up. The back is also the black with white dots. Its a little hard to tel.

Here are all of the wonderful ladies showing off their talented creations today!! Be sure to go and visit everyone!!

Oooh its lovely -I love the back too - so neat and striking. Like the idea of photographing it on the fridge using magnets - takes me ages to precariously balance mine on the wall hanging thingy if i dont sew in the extra loops! Thanks for sharing.

I like your sunflower! Nice fall colours too. The back looks really neat, so if this was your first attempt: AMAZING! I have a slight fear of the machine (full blown fobia sometimes), so I am in awe anyway!

I love sunflowers and yours is great , a little tip for the next circle you want to applique on. Take a piece of thin interfacing and place it on top of your fabric which you have traced your circle ,sew around the line then make a small slit in the interfacing , turn and then you have a perfect circle you can now iron on .

My 2 favorites Halloween and dots. Your block is really pretty. Can I put my 2 cents? If you starch your fabric and have it well ironed before you cut your circle, they will come out perfect. But I like as is. Thanks for sharing.
