Happy Mothers Day!! My Mom and I !!

 I Love my mom so much!! One thing mom always wanted to do was go to Hawaii. We had been before so I asked her if she wanted to come with us the next time we went!! We had so much fun, shopping and seeing the sights in Kauai. This is one of my favorite pictures!!

Mom walking on the black sand beach she always wanted to see!! I'm so excited she is coming for a visit because of my sons graduation. She will be here in a week!! I will post about some of the things we will be doing getting ready for the graduation party and of course shopping and crafting!!

The Deck is Done!!

Please ignore the ugly window airconditioner We don't have central air. Houses here weren't built with central air. We hope to get that put in in the next couple of years!!

I'll show pictures of the flower beds as soon as they start blooming. Maybe by Memorial day weekend things will be bloomimg!!

Blooming Orchid!!

This is my orchid. Its in my bathroom. My husband got it for me about 3 years ago. When he brought it home I was like "are you crazy do you know how hard Orchids are to take care of". I was so wrong. All I did was sit it in this same spot and water it a little every week and it keeps on blooming every year. I thought for sure I was going to be throwing this away right after its blooming season.

Bedroom Curtains I made them!!

I used a Simplicity curtain pattern to make these for my room. I made the valance and the panels. I bought the shears a while back.

 I really liked the neutral colors in the fabric and the hint of mauve and purple flowers. The flower I have clipped to the lamp shade I got in Hawaii. My Grandma made the dresser scarf and grape doily. My mom made the crocheted ornament I have in the tea cup. My lamp is vintage Homer Laughlin made in the 1940's.

I made New Curtains!!

I needed new curtains for my sliding glass door that goes out to the deck. The curtains lining was falling apart from years of the sun beating on them and our dog Sadie ( a rather large newfoundland) always scratching on them to go in and out especially when she was a puppy. My sister had told me how she made herself curtains using a painters drop cloth. I went to Home Depot to check them out since I wanted something neutral and heavy duty. I found these heavy weight canvas drop cloths for $14.49, It was called a runner. I folded it in half length wise since it was the perfect width for two panels and sewed it together. We have cold winters here so I wanted it to be thicker for insulation to keep the cold out.

 I used my original curtain rod and rings to save myself some money. I loved the drop cloth because the color is the same as osnaburg.

Americana Kitty

 I just loved this fabric!! This was the last of the brown and I made this kitty with it. I have some in blue and thought about making a blue kitty to.

Made a HotPad

Ok, remember this earlier in the week. Here is what a did with part of the panel!!

 I made a summer hotpad!!

I want to make something else with the rest. I was going to make a pillow but the hotpad just came to me.
