I have been very into ancestry.com for a few years now trying to trace all the branches of my family tree. My grandmother had this picture and each of ladies names were on it but the eldest lady only said Jane without her last name. The baby in the picture is my great grandmother Nettie Hobbs, her mother is behind her Leta Mae Long, her mother is to the bottom left Hattie May Dyer and to the right is Jane Barge. It took me a year to find out her original last name. I was soooo happy I was able to finally know her name!!! She was born in 1833 and since Nettie was born in 1904 we know the year of the picture. She had to have been one tough ole lady.

It's interesting to me that we don't often see the names Nettie, Hattie, and Leta anymore. In another decade or so, they'll probably come back. Isn't it nice to have that photo!
It's tons of fun tracing your past, I have had lots help with the LDS chruch, on my dads side way back to the civil war and on my moms side way back to knights in Scotland and England. It's a great picture!

My grandmother on my mother's side always told me we go back to the Spanish Duke of Alva. But as Alva was the general of Flanders and the Netherlands in the 16the century, I assume we're all Spanish one way or another :-).

How awesome to have this picture! My hubbys father has been working on their tree for years. He has his fathers family traced back to the 1600's but has hit a dead end. He has now started working on his mothers side....
My Mother in law jokes with him that he spends more time with his dead relatives then with the living ones. LOL...
