My youngest daughter and I were baking!!

We were busy baking early so we didn't heat up the house to much. My apple chunk bundt cake sprinkled with powdered sugar.
My youngest daughter is 15 and wanted me to make cupcakes while I was making the apple cake so I told her to break out the cook book and make her own cupcakes using a simple basic cake recipe. She chose the yellow cake in the Better Homes and Gardens Cook book. She did such a good job measuring out all her ingredients. She couldn't believe how easy it was to make her own cupcakes from scratch.
I also made sweet corn bread for our dinner later. It looks burnt in the picture but I promise it wasn't. I use a simple recipe of 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup cornmeal, 1 cup milk, 4 tsp baking powder, 2 eggs, stir with a fork and pour into a greased cake pan and bake at 425 for 20 minutes.
My daughter decided she wanted to make icing to decorate her cupcakes. So she looked in the same cookbook and used the simple powder sugar icing recipe to create her adorable faces!!

I miss these days. The older they get the less they want to hang out in the kitchen with mom. I remember when the kitchen was full with all 4 and they each wanted to help do everything fighting over who got to lick the beaters.

Your daughter did a great job on the icing, the faces look great. I wish I had stayed in the kitchen with my grandma to learn more about cooking.
