I made New Curtains!!

I needed new curtains for my sliding glass door that goes out to the deck. The curtains lining was falling apart from years of the sun beating on them and our dog Sadie ( a rather large newfoundland) always scratching on them to go in and out especially when she was a puppy. My sister had told me how she made herself curtains using a painters drop cloth. I went to Home Depot to check them out since I wanted something neutral and heavy duty. I found these heavy weight canvas drop cloths for $14.49, It was called a runner. I folded it in half length wise since it was the perfect width for two panels and sewed it together. We have cold winters here so I wanted it to be thicker for insulation to keep the cold out.

I used my original curtain rod and rings to save myself some money. I loved the drop cloth because the color is the same as osnaburg.

Hi Cherry~
Your new window treatments are AWESOME!!!!! I must tell my daughter about this "thrifty" idea. She loves the natural look too and they live near the Grand Tetons and have looong winters. They also have a Choc Lab/Newfoundland fur baby and he is huge and has ruined her previous curtains by doing the same thing. Gotta love him though ;-) TFS
Have a great day!

Awesome curtains! I use old sheets to make draps for the livingroom for the winter months. I hang them in the doorways to keep the warmth from the fireplace excaping the room. We have no doors in that room so this is my solution....

Love the little American kitty. Oh how I loved Holly Hobby as a child. Cant wait to see what you do with the chairs.... Have fun creating....

I've heard of more and more people doing this. I thought about using one for my shower curtain and then stenciling on it. Another thing added to my to do list. lol
